Tales of Sarah and Weekend Plans

Dan’s grandmother, Sarah, is visiting from South Carolina. She came in this past weekend and will be staying for a couple weeks. Today after work I decided to head over to visit for a little. When I walked in she was standing there with hot rollers in her hair with a gigantic smile on her face. “You wanna go to dinner? {in her sweet southern twang).” I agreed even though I was only planning on visiting for about an hour. Either way, I was happy to see her and hang out.

We hit up TGIF’s and the conversation flowed freely. Here was one conversation:

Sarah: “You think you and Dan will get married?”

me: “Um, sure. Yea, I think so! We’re in no rush.”

Sarah: “Yea. I think he wants to do better.” {she takes a long sip of water}

me: {stunned} “Wait, do you mean better… as in…?…”

Sarah: “Oh no! I didn’t mean it that way, I just meant better financially and more into his job!”

me: {sigh… I was so relieved}

both: lots of laughs

Now, Sarah has some health problems which she shared with me during dinner. Basically she needs to eat more healthy and ironically, her favorite food is ice cream. Every time we visit or she visits we eat ice cream – it’s the love of her life! So obviously she shouldn’t have too much ice cream but still can’t stop. Next conversation {as we were leaving Costo. Yes, we went there after dinner}:

me: Oh I’m so full!

Sarah: Yes me too. You know, I’m about to burst, but do you want some ice cream from over there {points to the snack bar with a sneaky grin on her face. She reminded me of a teenager saying, “You want some BEER????”

me: {not hungry at all} Um… sure I’ll have some!

When we got to the car, she was eating ice cream like it was going out of style while stating the fact that she’ll “get in trouble” {with Dan’s parent’s} if she is “caught” eating ice cream. She asked if she could leave the “evidence” in my car for me to throw away. I promptly said yes as if I was part of a mafia scheme and if I didn’t comply I’d be dead or broke.

All in all it was a great night. She’s fun to talk to and is a really cool grandma!

Tomorrow, I am heading home to Ohio for the weekend to attend my best friend Stephanies’ bridal shower!

Sometimes I miss Ohio just for the fact that you can get beers like that for under $4…

You know what the cool part about my trip tomorrow is? I’ll be travelling with Kate from Suburban Sweetheart! We found out a while back that we’re from the same part of Ohio. How sweet is that? I’m sure you’ll see tweets from the road.

Also, I recently won a giveaway from Gwen at Confessions of a Control Freak! I’m so excited because it’s a ton of nail products! The best part? The color Kinky in Helsinki is part of the package. That color is special to me because I fell it love with it back in high school when I first started using OPI products. Since that time I’ve been searching everywhere for that specific shade! YAY! Thanks Gwen!
