Cowboy Hats and Sexy Thunderstorms

Hi everyone!

I am BACK from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and man oh MAN was it an amazing trip! I am refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the summer (can you believe it’s already August?!).

The trip started off very nice! Remember Sarah? Well, she accompanied us down south. You see, she was visiting Dan’s family and our plans were to visit her in South Carolina before out MB trip so it worked out well that she had a ride home. Within the first 20 minutes of our middle-of-the-night journey, she was already cracking me up.

Dan: (he sees a Wawa station) Look! A Wawa! (yes we were excited – we don’t see many)

Me: Oh! I love Wawa.

Sarah: I like chihuahua’s (obviously not understanding what we’re referring to).

As soon as we pulled near her town, I swear I could smell peaches from the highway. In my opinion fruit is nature’s candy and I was definitely not disappointed. We stopped at a store off the road and I picked up a TON of fresh peaches. Soon that became the theme of my trip: Peach. Even my shaving cream was peach and I totally did not plan that.

The first part of the week spent with Sarah was interesting and fun. Interesting because she tends to eat out all the time, while Dan and I like to cook (because it’s an easy way to control the nutrition). So, the first night we arrived we went grocery shopping and bought a ton of food. The next day Sarah wanted to take us out anyways. We convinced her that we’d make her tacos. When you visit someone, do you sometimes feel like you throw them off? Well that’s how we felt about Sarah. We threw off her routine by cooking. Either way we had a blast and Dan even made homemade ice cream. It was delicious (my mouth is watering just thinking about it). M&M’s and Mint was the title (I think. I wanted to call it Triple M but Dan refused my idea). Seriously if you made ice cream at home definitely consider using M&M’s instead of your typical chocolate chips. YUM.

On Wednesday, we headed to Myrtle Beach. Prior to vacation, I had checked the weather which predicted all thunderstorms all the time. They weren’t lying! At about 20 minutes to the beach it starts thunderstorming. At first I was upset – this was my vacation for crying out loud! But then I decided to chin up and enjoy myself. Besides, summer thunderstorms are sexy and we had an ocean view hotel to enjoy them from! With that said the weather was consistent daily. I think the worst day was Wednesday and after that it became very windy in the late afternoons until it started thundering. Either way Dan and I made the most of it and here is the proof:

If you find yourself in Myrtle Beach make sure you visit Vanity in Barefoot Landing which is a shopping center. The jewelry was to die for – I think I was in there for about an hour. It’s the kind of stuff that people will ask you, “Wow, WHERE did you get that?” because it’s so unique.

Well folks it’s late and I’m exhausted! Special thanks to the guest bloggers this week! Their posts were very thought provoking and I was honored to have them guest post. A double thanks goes out to Sarah from Classy and Fabulous. I won her spa giveaway and the package she sent me was so amazing! I can’t wait to pamper myself (especially my feet which need it after the beach!).

Have a great Tuesday!

xoxo,

Julie

You were?!?! Damnit! LOL! I loved Beach Cove too. My only gripe was the elvators. We were on the 12th floor and they took forever and were poorly ventalated. Besides that everything else was great! Anyways I hope your well and I’m sorry I missed you! Xoxo

It looks like you had fun! I went to Myrtle Beach in March, but I didn’t get to experience the beach. I’ll have to go to Barefoot Landing next time!

I love this post, seriously, in so many ways. Mostly because I get to read about my neck of the woods (the carolinas). I was actually in Charleston last week where I ransacked Vanity of a very nice person and some cute bangles…I was obessesed with them in college too, I even went to MB from UNCW on weekends. So happy to read about it, and your cute little mug (which reminds me of that not so great movie Fist Foot Way, where they talk about a crazy night as being Myrtle Beach drunk, haha).

Oh, fun pics! I love it. And you look totally adorable in your little hat. I’m so jealous of your trip – the closest resort-like action around me is probably like an RV park by a river or something gross, ha! {oh, and I think thunderstorms are sexy, too}

I used to live near MB! I remember when barefoot landing and broadway @ the beach were NOTHING. Like, absolutely nothing. Crazy to see how much its grown! Hope you had good weather and enjoyed yourself!
Did you go to the dragon putt putt place @ broadway? If so, it always scared me when I was a little kid!
