Hi guys,
Well, I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers talking about how they are participating in National Blog Posting Month and since I already posted yesterday, I figure, why not? So, here I am posting away.

Today has been a great day so far. This week, my goal is to really become organized in all aspects of my life. At least get my to-do lists and schedules for the day in order so I don’t go crazy. Last week, I picked the brain of one of my co-workers who is extremely and utterly organized. She has this complete system for planning and uses Franklin Covey organizers. Previously, I was interested in buying the MomAgenda (well, for me it would be the MyAgenda). They have been all the buzz in the blog and Twitterworld. So last week, I went to a local paper store and, frankly, they are really pretty and nice but not too practical. Now, I only saw the original size, not the desktop size, but the original was way too small. There was barely room for me to write anything and I didn’t like how to opened up.

I need something to lie flat. I ended up going to Office Max and found a super cute Franklin Covey binder and planner.

I really like the binder (and I paid less than $30!). I can stick other things inside if needed and I have a ton of room to write for both my professional and personal life. SCORE!
What kind of planner do you use? Do you have an organization system? I’d love to hear about it!

I still use a college student type planner because it gives me so much more room to write!!
That, or I am just secretly wishing I was still in undergraduate school five years later….
.-= Amber´s last blog ..Where I have been and what I have been doing! =-.
Haha nothing beats student planners! I loved mine always in school. I’m finding that the one I have now has as much space and more.
I have a Vera Bradley agenda, and I love it! It has a binder inside and opens flat (which is so useful!) and has calendars inside for the next few years. There is a little folder inside where you can stick things, and it comes with a sheet of stickers to use for important dates! Also, the back has a section for notes, address, etc. I just saw the 2010 agenda at the new VB store out at Tysons, and it looks just as cute! For $25, I think it works very well for me
.-= Lexi´s last blog ..crafty UFO challenge! =-.
Wow $25 is cheap especially if it gives you additional years. Very cool!
I’m really looking for a new planner!! ASAP!! Thanks for the suggestion.
I have the desktop size MyAgenda, and while it’s good, it’s not practical for me to carry around at all. I keep it on my kitchen counter at home, it serves as a general agenda for us.
And I signed up to do NaBloPoMo too. Even though I’m a day late, and I’ve never posted everyday for a week, let alone a month. We shall see.

Maybe you could post twice in one day to catch up? Yea, the MyAgenda just doesn’t cut it for me. Definitely check out office max or go to the Franklin Covey website.
Good luck with doing NaBlPoMo. I thought I might like to do it, but I have a feeling this is going to be a chaotic month, and there is no way I could keep up with it on weekends. Your new planner looks great! I have also been really wanting to get organized.. but is it horrible that I think I’m going to wait to the new year to get started on that one?
.-= Carissajaded´s last blog ..And then it was November =-.
Hahaha that’s what new year resolutions are for, yes?
I hope I can keep up with posting daily. It will be a challenge but I think in a good way.
I’m so glad you joined NaBloPoMo!!! I did it last year and it’s easier than it seems. I’m posting a photo a day this year. My yellow bag and it’s daily adventures are the subject. Not sure if it counts but I think it does. LOL!!!
I use a classic size ring bound Franklin Covey planner. I had the one page per day style this year but I think I’ll be switching to the wire bound 2 page per week style for 2010. I want a slimmer design so its less heavy to carry in my handbags. I’m so glad you found one that works for you!!!!
XOXO

I can’t wait to see the adventures of your (cute!) yellow bag
I don’t use a planner. Each day, I write a to-do list of things I need to do at work, and I base that on emails and also on my Outlook calendar. My Outlook calendar is what I usually use. I already have to schedule work appointments, so then I just started adding my personal stuff in there too. I usually don’t need a planner on the weekends, and a quick look at it on Friday afternoons is usually enough for me. I work in social media PR so I’m already on the computer all the time. Having something to handwrite events would just not ever get done… I need everything electronic!

I see what you mean. I think it’s different for everyone because since you work in social media, maybe it’s more acceptable to be on your phone or computer all the time? (I could be wrong). I work at a school and it’s hard because if we are on our iPhones or whatever all the time, it may look rude. Maybe that will change in the future. Who knows
It does stink for me though bc I LOVE technology and therefore, I feel that an electronic device would work well for me. But maybe in my profession that’s just not the case. xoxo
totally love organization. i use a notebook sized planner that i got at target – tons of room for me to write. and i use the “getting things done” system. that book is my savior. i used to have hundreds of emails in my inbox and i was a hot mess. that book seriously changed my life!
I will have to look for that book!
I should have gotten a neat-o NaBloPoMo badge. Oh well. I like your planner though!

Haha you still can! I think I may add it to my sidebar. Haven’t decided yet.
How dare you go against the blog mafia and their MomAgenda!!!! (Haha, please!!) I’ve seen them in person too and the original is way too small but the desktop is too big to carry around. I personally have moved from paper to my phone and computer iCal. I always have that on me and it automatically syncs to my comp/phone. I love the pattern of the one you got!! Very cute!
.-= Kirby @ Good Gals Inc´s last blog ..Oh Zoro… =-.
I think a combination of both electronic ways and paper will be best for me too. For example, I love putting my grocery list on my iPhone and everything else in my planner.
I have a planner that I got from Target, but it’s really big and bulky and I don’t like carrying it everywhere. I need something more practical! I used to use my Blackberry to track appointments and things, but since getting the Storm it hasn’t been that easy to use, with the touch screen.
.-= Amy´s last blog ..Mopey Monday =-.
It’s always a challenge finding the right planner! So annoying sometimes
I got a Franklin Covey one for Target – I like it but the daily boxes are set up a little funny – I’m not in love with it.
But it took me 2 months to commit to it so I’m damn well keeping it.

Haha well, if that doesn’t work out, go to Office Deport and look at the ones there!
I have to have a planner to survive. Otherwise I forget everything. Right now I’m using a 5 star notebook planner which I like since it’s big enough for school and work. Once I graduate I can finally get a purse size planner though to just keep track of work/life stuff.

I hear ya… I need one too because I have the WORST memory in the world. Ugh!
I refuse to buy a planner unless it lies flat. I just use your basic Staples school version (with a pretty cover of course). Never fails!
A cute one always helps
Ooops, my website was wrong!

I used to be crazy planer lady who never went anywhere without it. But, since I’ve had my iPhone I use it for everything. ALL. THE. TIME. I’m seriously lost without it. It’s rather sad. I have my calendar, notes (lots of them), grocery store lists, you name it!
.-= Sara´s last blog ..Three Years Ago =-.
I LOVE my iPhone too. But I always feel like it’s not practical… for me. Maybe in the future though! I do use it for lists. I love the list feature.
I used to use a Franklin. Now I use Outlook on my computer linked to my phone. I have heard all of the hoop-la about the MomAgenda but I haven’t taken the time to look at them.
I guess whatever works for each of us is the way to go!!
.-= Heidi´s last blog ..Let’s give ‘em something to talk about =-.
I agree. Everyone is different with different needs. What works for you may be different for me. It’s hard trying to find one that works though!
Shoot, I forgot about NaBloPoMo…darnit!
I love daily planners! I used them all the time in college and I still have them, haha. It’s nice to go back and reflect on some of the things I had planned in the college days. I bought one last year and forgot all about it so I guess my daily planner era has ended. I do keep one on iCal on both my computer & iPhone especially for when bills are due!
.-= steph anne´s last blog ..The Faux Fireplace =-.
Aww you can still join! Planners are fun but only if you need it. If iCal works for you, you should stick with it!
I have the worst paper problem- it’s so overwhelming!!!! Every birthday & Christmas I ask for a session with a professional organizer. It’s worth every penny to be clutter free(at least for a month!)
.-= Madeleine´s last blog ..Ta Ta-rrific Benefit =-.
Have you ever had a professional organizer? What’s that like? Sounds so cool. I need one!
I have a daily planner that I swear by… I’d be lost without it!
Haha I’m hoping to get to that point.
I have a cheap little day planner from Walmart!
.-= Lil’ Woman´s last blog ..Better Late Than Never =-.
Gotta love Walmart!
I use a Franklin Covey planner. I have not had the time to use it like I should, not the desk space for it to sit (my current desk area is tiny). My goal is to get more organized as well. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

I don’t know who makes mine, but I got it from Target for about 7 bucks and I love it. Plenty of room to write everyday activities and has a month overview calender as well. It opens and lays flat and is perfect for what I need it for.
.-= Jacki´s last blog ..Blah. =-.
I use a Franklin Covey planner too. It’s from Target. It has monthly and weekly calendars, to-do lists, important dates to remember, addresses, grocery shopping lists, and a bunch of other stuff. It’s probably a lot like yours…I love it!
Scott and I also share a Google calendar and that works really well for knowing each other’s schedules.
I use a delightful system called MobileMe for the MacBook and all of my contacts, emails and calendars are synched via the air. It’s great. I do find that sometimes I wanted something concrete to look at and plan with, but I can print calendars out and I often do that to have something visual.
