Hello!
So, last week it just hit me:
I needed to go camping.
Dan had been hinting at it for awhile and it gets to the point where we need to leave society behind and rough it for a few days. We decided to go to Burke Lake Park on Friday through Sunday.
Friday night, I arrived in from Pittsburgh later than usual so we had to hurry up and go grocery shopping to at least enjoy the evening. Dan went to the camp site ahead of time to pick a spot and set up our tent. He did a great job meaning, we were on a flat area and the bath house was close but not too close.
That night, we made a fire that wasn’t too successful
Usually, we can make a good fire but it wasn’t in our cards Friday night! Still though, we managed to eat fire grilled hot dogs and s’mores and drank tons of wine. There’s nothing more peaceful.
Saturday morning, we woke up with a slight reminder of how much we drank the night before
That soon went away after eating some french toast and banana’s.
It took a few tries to make the toast edible but it was delicious none-the-less!
After breakfast, Dan went out to find a mountain bike trail at another park nearby. I stayed back to relax, take some pictures, and figure out a good spot to run.
Our lazy-boy’s
On Friday night, we saw this tree and decided it was singing opera for the whole park…
When I looked up, I saw this:
After hanging out with my camera and reading the May issue of Shape magazine, I decided it was time to run. It was the perfect day for it! I just had to figure out where. I knew there was a trail near our site because Dan and I kept seeing people running/walking/biking through the trees near the lake. I put on my running clothes and headed to the trail.
I asked the first person I saw how long the trail was and if it deviated at all. It was 4.5 miles around the lake and a straight shot. Just follow the trail and I’d hopefully end up back where I started. So, off I went!
It was lovely! Each part of the trail was different. Sometimes, I was out in the open. Sometimes, I was in the woods. Other times, I past by docks of fisherman or kids playing on a playground. There’s something for everyone at this camp site and I’m happy I was able to explore it by a great run! Plus, there were bathhouses along the trail to stop and get some water or use the bathroom.
When I got back, Dan and I relaxed on our chairs. Soon, we made it back into the tent for an afternoon nap. Then we showered, collected more firewood, and decided to take a walk so I could show him some of the trail. Along the trail, there’s a fitness course! Dan double dog dared me to do the rings so I did. Not sure if I did it right though! Haha
Wheeeeeee!
After our walk, it was time to eat and start a fire! Dan cooked chicken quesadilla’s:
We made a tepee-style fire:
Our Saturday night fire trumped our Friday night fire. It was strong and mighty!
We made popcorn:
Plus s’mores
Then, I decided to roast and eat one marshmallow by itself. It turns out, I did a little scientific experiment and when it was done, the middle part came out leaving a hollow marshmallow! Regardless, it was yummy.
Saturday night, it got really cold! We were shivering so waking up on Sunday morning was difficult but we managed. We had to pack up everything quickly because we were off to celebrate mother’s day with Dan’s family. More on that later

Last month, Tina from Carrots ‘N’ Cake teamed up with Kate from What Kate Ate to bring Yoga Pose May. Bloggers were randomly assigned a yoga pose for each day of the month.
I was assigned the Dolphin to showcase an example on my blog. Here I am:
Considering I don’t practice yoga often (I want to!), this was a relatively easy pose for me. It also felt really good, which is the point, right?
On another note, I have posted a giveaway in my reviews section. Please go HERE to enter and to read my post about a really fun exercise party!
Do you like camping? Why or why not?
Have a great day everyone!

As a yoga newbie its awesome that you dont find Dolphin challenging in your upper body/arms. You must be a natural, Id get yoga-ing if I were you
Camping is the best!
I miss making smores, we don’t have graeme crackers in Australia :/ Cool photos again!
You ALMOST make camping look fun. Remember — I said almost. I am {surprise surprise} not a camper. Hehe. Not for me, but I’ll bet it’s fun. If you like sleeping on the ground and getting bug bites.
xoxo
I haven’t been camping in so long and now you have passed the itch onto me! PLUS, you guys cook some TASTY meals while camping! You really make me look bad – I could just live off hot dogs and smores while I go camping!!
Beautiful pics! Looks like a ton of fun!

I LOVE smores. Your camping trip sounds awesome, I wish I was more of a camper. Dolphin is a really tough pose for me. Maybe it’s the weak arms but man I hate that pose, LOL. ONe day I’ll get it.
SO FUN! I’m jealous. Camping is one of my all time favorite things to do. I can’t wait till the end of this month to go
Looks like you guys had a great time.

Oh man! It’s been almost 2 years since I’ve been camping which is sad because I LOVE it! So Jealous! Now I want to go camping!
I already love Dove deodorant, plus I teach yoga….what a good combo eh?
I like backpacking, which is like camping on steriods! Take your own food and gear in to backpack. Make your own fires, cooking etc! Haven’t done it in a while though. Last trip was in the San DeCristo Mountains out of Durango Colorado….many, many moons ago!
We got off the Silverton Train out of Durango, then 10 days later the train picked us back up.
Talk about an exercise program!

I love camping and one of my favorit parts is roasting marshmallows. My technique is to roast it fairly quickly, pull off the outer layer (like what happened to you) eat the outer layer and put the middle part back in the fire for another roast. 2x the goodness!

I’m incredibly jealous of your camping getaway. I’ve been hinting at my hubby that I’d love to take a long weekend with him and the pup and enjoy the great outdoors, but I think he thinks I’m nuts! This is only inspiring me to get back to the hinting – maybe if I pitch a tent in my garage, he’ll get the hint?!
