Why am I so motivated to blog this week?
I pondered this after I received this tweet from Gretchen:

She has an excellent point. I have been blogging a lot this week, plus I am more motivated.
Before FitBloggin, I was unsure of myself and my role in the inter-webs. Call it low-internet-self-esteem, but I didn’t know where I belonged and thought I wasn’t good enough. People I looked up to in the blogging world already have their stamp on the internet. How could I live up to them? What am I even doing here? I have nothing to offer.
It turns out, I have a lot to offer! This weekend, FitBloggin lit a fire within me and blogging became real. I met tons of real life people instead of webpages. Granted, I’ve met a ton of bloggers in the past. I’ve been to countless meet ups and have many friends who I “met on the internet.” But, this past weekend was different… maybe it was because it was focused on informational sessions. Or, maybe it was because, for the first time, I felt like I had a place in this world we call blogging.

I recall one time, I stood up to ask a question and boldly stated, “Hi, my name is Julie and I blog at Wearing Mascara {dot} com…” Normally, I’m shy about my blog title. I’ve always wanted to change it, because I thought it wasn’t me. This weekend, I realized I have been holding back. This blog is me. It’s not just about the blog title that makes the blog – it’s the content behind it. Plus, let’s be honest: I wear mascara. Every day. It doesn’t mean that I rely on makeup to face the world, it means that I have a flavor and confidence. I am a woman and I do everything from a feminine perspective, whether I like it or not.
Through my blog, I will no longer hide. I will be open to my unique perspective and have respect for my inner voice.
You have to be unique, and different, and shine in your own way.

Girl, you DO have so much to bring to the table! Never forget it. Your voice and opinion are valued — who else am I going to go to as my totally down-to-earth Bikram guru? I’m so glad you’re starting to accept this part of yourself. <3
Thanks G! Hahaha… ME? A guru? HAHA
Love.
It’s been so great seeing you blog so much lately! You are a wonderful part of this community!

Awwww! Thanks Mindy! I appreciate that so much.
I love this. For a period of time a few months back I considering ending A Knack for Nutrition because I was questioning what I had to offer. But I kept going, and then I went to fitbloggin, and now I can’t get enough. I’m glad that you are not going to stop blogging. I genuinely enjoy reading your posts. And I’m really happy I met you.

Hehehe thanks Amy!
<3 I think this is a great post, Ms. Fiend! I sometimes think my blog is insignificant because I don't have the high readership that some do, or a cult following if you will. But it is me, and my life and I do it for me anyway! I am significant

EXACTLY! Love your attitude. I need to remind myself of that!
Well said, Julie. I like when my blogging mojo is reactivated too, and a blogging conference (especially one like FitBloggin’, which is directly related to stuff you already write about and are interested in) can definitely do that.
I’ve only met you once, but I very much enjoyed it and hope to do so again!

I feel the same way about my blog name – it doesn’t describe me or the blog really, but it’s my blog and I should be proud of it!
For the record, I think Wearing Mascara is a cool name.
