A pumpkin fest at Deagan ‘s

Ever since I moved to Lakewood, I kept hearing and hearing about this restaurant called Deagan’s. People told me I’d love it and that Deagan’s and I would fall in love and get married.

Well, tonight I heard wedding bells.

Earlier this week, Crystal asked if I would go to Deagan‘s Pumpkin Fest with her. Um, do birds fly? Are pumpkins orange? Of course I wanted to go!

As soon we I parked, I remembered that I didn’t have my camera with me. Doh! Such a shame, because this was a meal to remember. I did the best I could with iPhone pictures…

As soon as we sat down, our adorable waitress greeted us and asked if we wanted a drink. I cannot believe that I haven’t blogged about this before, but Southern Tier Pumking Ale is the best beer I’ve ever had. I was lucky enough to try it during Cleveland’s Beer Week and it literally tastes like a pumpkin pie. Crystal and I immediately ordered this beer as soon as we saw the menu. It worked so well with all the food we ordered.

Besides just being an all-around awesome person, the thing I love most about Crystal is her food-open-mindedness. We are very like-minded when it comes to ordering food because we both want to try everything! It works in our favor so we order a few things and share it all. This saves money and prevents {too much} overeating.

To start, we ordered the Candied Local Pumpkin Crostini, which was amazing. Going into this meal, I was concerned that it would be too sweet and not savory enough. This was a perfect starter because the sweetness of the pumpkin was balanced by the salty goat cheese.

Before we were seated, we saw Alicia dining with her husband and family (HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANS!). They had the Pumpkin Sage Gnocchi (which, I like to pronounce GA-NA-OOOO-CHEEEE, while Crystal and Alicia both say it in the sexy appropriate way. I need to work on this.), and we knew we had to order it too. My favorite part of this dish was how garlicy it was… it worked so well with the pumpkin and the sage.

(Mom, after the amazing dinner you cooked us on Sunday, this is a dish you would have loved!).

See my enthusiasm? Or, maybe I’m just a nerd, which is totally cool.

But, my friends, our pumpkin dessert was something very, very special… Crystal and I ordered the Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake. I literally died and went to cheesecake heaven, folks. ‘Nuff said.

If it was socially acceptable to lick the plate in public, I would have.

It was great running into Alicia! (Didn’t get a picture of my date, Crystal though… boo).

Does anyone else feel like this week has gone by sloooooow? I woke up this morning assuming it was Friday. I hope tomorrow comes and goes quickly because it’s the freakin’ weekend and I’m about to have me some fun

Have a great night!

Pumpking is by far the BEST pumpkin beer out there! I’m so jealous of your pumpkin gorging! Happy Friday!

I’m soooo glad you wanted to gorge on pumpkin with me! What a fun night…as always. I’m so sad that I had no camera AND a dead cell phone – what kind of bloggers are we – doh! I loved the bonus sighting of the Poise gang on Hans’ special night too (thanks for letting us drool over your meals and helping us decide what to get) And for the record, my week is a BLUR! super crazy hectic busy but worth every minute.

It was lovely seeing you girls last night. I knew Pumpkin Fest would bring out some of my favorite bloggers! And I almost licked our cheesecake plate clean as well. SO GOOD.
