Just when I thought I’d be home for awhile, I find out that isn’t exactly the case. A couple weeks ago, my mom put it out there that she was going to St. Louis the first week of July to visit my grandfather and do accomplish some other family duties. She invited me along, and the next thing I know, I’m going to St. Louis with her for a few days. On Friday, we will be driving to Chicago to visit Valerie.
Next week will be filled of work around my grandparents house, Ted Drewes, and some of my grandparents’ favorite little Italian restaurants. It will be strange to be there without my grandma, but we plan to do everything in her memory. I will be good to see my grandpa again and make sure he is doing okay. We wish he lived closer, instead of a 9 hour drive.
Last week was really fun, despite Debby Downer the tropical storm. Even though I didn’t take many pictures, I was able to snag a few.
One night while out to dinner, Todd challenged me to order some oysters. I had never tried them before and always got very close, but could never eat them! They look so gross, to be honest.
Our waiter was really nice and told me to put one on a saltine with some horse radish and cocktail sauce. I’m glad I tried it this way first. My next one was a straight up oyster but eating it this way first helped me ease into it.
They weren’t too shabby! These were Louisiana oyster’s and not too salty. Todd told me there are some better ones I should try sometime soon.
Our last couple days were really nice. We got in a full beach and pool day. Also, I finally finished the Hunger Games series. Yep, it only took me about 6 months. Either I’m a slow reader or easily distracted… I highly recommend the Hunger Games series to anyone! Loved the books and can’t wait for the next two movies…
Sigh. I miss the ocean and vacation. It always goes by so fast!
Off to bed… I hope you have a lovely start to your week!
