I’m Feeling Gud

Hello friends!

I feel like I’ve been completely off the blog map this week. Between starting work last week and recovering from the weekend, I’ve just been laying low. The best part about this week has been that Todd unexpectantly came home yesterday! As I mentioned before, he was gone for three weeks with the Coast Guard and was set to come back on Friday or Saturday. I do love when he comes back early. It’s such a awesome surprise!

There was also another surprise this week! My girl, Crystal, got engaged this week! Head over to her blog to wish her a congrats! I love her fiance’ and think they are perfect together! <3

Work has been going really well. I’ve am currently working on setting myself up for the year which includes getting my offices ready. I plan to buy lots of plants because they make me happy and focused. Also, I need a rug. A round, bright-colored, cheap, rug… any ideas?

My new part-time job as a Stella & Dot Independent Stylist began with a bang last night! Nidhizzle hosted my first party and, not surprisingly, everyone loved the jewelry (Including Ali, who has a birthday TODAY! Happy birthday!)! It felt so surreal setting up my first show and I loved every minute of it.

Also, Nidhi looked ah-mazing in our Olivia Bib Necklace.

It was a super fun night :-)

Recently, I was contacted by gud by Burt’s Bees to do a review of their products. One thing I love about blogging is getting the opportunity to read about and try new products. There are so many products that I use to this very day that I can thank blogging for discovering. Bloggers will tell you like it is, and I’m more likely to purchase a product based on a bloggers opinion rather than an advertisement.

I was more than happy to review gud! First off, they smell amazing (smell-tastic) and are an all natural product. They sent me 6 products which gave me a variety.

First, I tried the shampoo (Vanilla Flame) & conditioner (Orange Petalooza). Let me just tell you, as I sit here and write this, with my wet hair straight from the shower, the scent is still amazing from the first time I used it. Believe it or not, but I’m not a huge fan of vanilla, but I really like Vanilla Flame. As soon as the shampoo touched my hair, it felt soothing and having the lovely scent just made it so much better. After the shampoo came the blood orange conditioner and the vanilla + orange were a welcomed combo.

It’s interesting, I am not someone that pays a lot of money for hair products. I usually just purchase from the cheaper brands, so when I had this reaction to the shampoo and conditioner, I was surprised because they are pretty inexpensive at only $7/each. Trying out these products made me realize that my showers could be so much more relaxing with good shampoo & conditioner, like gud! The bonus is that I don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for them. Plus, my hair still feel great and smells fantastic way after my shower.

I felt the same way about the silky, smooth body wash. Again, in the Orange Petalooza which is clearly my favorite. I mean, how often do you get to use orange scented anything? It’s not too common but I love it.

Now, onto the lotion. Here’s the thing: I do not feel like an expert in beauty products. These are only my opinions from my experience. However, if there’s one thing I do feel like I know well, it’s lotion. My mom taught me at an early age to use lotion after every shower, no matter what. I still do that to this very day and if I even wait for 10 minutes, my skin feels extremely uncomfortable. I’m a lotion snob and very picky.

With that said, I did not like this lotion. The scent, Floral Cherrynova, was great, but the whole lotion experience was way off. It felt a little oily and was very difficult to rub in. You know how sometimes, sunscreen takes forever to apply because it will never rub in? That’s how I felt about this lotion. Eventually, it rubbed in, but by then I needed to rush out the door! Since applying lotion is a daily ritual, I need something quick and easy.

When I first opened the product box, I let out a little squeal because I saw the Pearanormal Activity Body Butter. I’m obsessed with pear-anything. This product was the first one I used and I love, love, love it. One of my Secret Single Behaviors (derived from Sex and the City… it means behaviors you do while your single or when your man is gone) is taking a shower and then lathering my favorite body butter all over my body while watching girly movies and doing my nails. This body butter definitely fits my Secret Single Behavior regimen quite well. :-) The scent is to-die-for and will have you craving pears instantly. Plus, the butter isn’t too thick like other ones. It’s a lot more applicable for full body use, which I appreciated!

Last, but certainly not least, was the hand cream in Vanilla Flame. I’m always looking for a good hand cream to throw in my handbag and use on-the-go and this is it. When I put it on, I feel like I’m at a spa, but it doesn’t leave my hands feeling greasy, which is realistic for work and play. And again, I love the vanilla!

These products range from only $5-$12, which is doable if you are on a budget. Realistically, I could see indulging in these products on a regular basis. I’ll definitely be seeking out the Orange Petalooza and Pearanormal Activity scents. Both are fun and unique!

I really recommend trying out gud by Burt’s Bees if you want something fun and new to try!

Check out this adorable video from gud called The Smelltastical! I love it because it really illustrates how good these products smell. The scent isn’t too much though, sometimes a strong scent annoys me ;-)
