Hi guys!
Thank you Katie, for the wonderful guest post yesterday! Also, Cleveland friends or visitors, don’t forget to check out my Movie Gala giveaway! You have until Thursday night to enter.
One of my favorite spots in Lakewood, Ohio is the Buckeye Beer Engine. When I first moved back to Ohio, several of my friends recommended it for a good beer and their fried Macaroni and Cheese Sticks (which are ah-mazing!). Everything is good there, down to the black bean burgers. Anyways, my pal Sarah celebrated her birthday their this weekend for a birthday brunch.
They have a decent good brunch, regular food and Bloody Mary’s. In fact, the Bloody Mary Bar is so good that it actually takes up most of their brunch menu. You have a choice of vodka’s and tons of choices to stuff into your glass.

Normally, I’m not a huge fan of Bloody Mary’s because they are either too spicy or taste off for me. I guess I’m picky in the Bloody Mary department. But when I saw the option for a Bloody Mary Bar, I was sold. The waitress brought over a glass generously filled with vodka. One of Sarah’s friends, Catherine, told me she doesn’t like spicy Bloody Mary’s either so she helped me with my beautiful concoction.
Here’s what went into my glass:
- tomato juice
- worcestershire sauce (a little)
- sriracha sauce (a couple drops)
- some pepper
- a dash of salt
- lots of love

After the liquids were in place, I went to town with the veggies. In went olives with stuffed feta (’cause feta makes everything beta…), celery, carrot, pickles, green beans, red peppers, tomatoes, lemon, and lime. It was a glorious salad in a cup + alcohol. Perfect for a simple Sunday morning with friends.

My masterpiece was awesome. I think it’s safe to say that I like Bloody Mary’s now… if I get to make them myself!

So, who wants to go to Buckeye Beer Engine with me next?
<3,
Julie

Ok, I’ve never been to Buckeye Beer Engine and I love fried pickles – I need to get there soon! I’m not a fan of bloody marys but maybe if we call them salad in a glass, I could change my opinion. They always SOUND so yummy but I hate tomato juice. I guess w/ enough vodka and veggies…
