Hello everyone!

How was your holiday? Mine was great… like really, really great. I was with Todd all weekend hanging out with family. We were lucky since he didn’t have to work. Tomorrow, he’s gone for the week so I’m soaking up the time with him before he’s gone.

Who is taking part in the deals today? I think I will be… I have some things I need to check off my list for gifts and Cyber Monday is the perfect way to do that. Also, time for some shameless self-promotion, Stella & Dot has a wonderful Cyber Monday sale! Shop here and when you spend $50, you get the Hematite Cupchain Bracelet for only $9.95 (regularly $59!). It’s QUITE the deal. Also, remember no matter how much you order, shipping is a flat rate of $5.95. Message me if you need gift ideas! Thank you for supporting my small biz!

Also, I heard that Retail Me Not is a great resource for Cyber Monday deals! Just a heads up.

Time to tell you about my Thanksgiving break! Let’s break down the highlights…

Wednesday Night

Todd and I went to Deagans in Lakewood, Ohio to meet my dad, sister, and her friend for dinner. Valerie was in town from Chicago so obviously we all had to get together! This is one of my favorite restaurants and it’s always a great place to go.

We ordered the big board full of cured meats and artisinal cheeses. Holy yum… this was gone in like 5 minutes. ;-)

I decided on the Falafel Sliders with fries on the side. Plus, I had a couple beers. A new favorite is the Southern Tier 2XMas.

Thursday Night

Thanksgiving Day was held at my mom’s house in Hudson. Lots of wine + football + chilling by the fire.

As usual, my mom outdid herself and had quite the Thanksgiving spread. Personal highlights include her sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Wait, I just liked everything.

I contributed the cranberry sauce using the recipe from Peas and Thank You (which has become a Thanksgiving staple at my house!). I love how these taste.

After the meal, we watched The Hunger Games. My mom read the books but still hadn’t seen the movie. Todd and I decided to remedy this and rented it for the evening. It was so much fun watching with her! It was my third time seeing it and I still love it each time.

Thursday Late Night

Once our hearts and tummies were full, Todd and I left my mom’s house. Once in the car, we joked about the possibility of going Black Friday shopping. The joking became real when we figured, why not? We’d make it an adventure since neither of us had been Black Friday shopping before. Well, Todd has never been. I usually just wake up early and hit up the mall but I’ve never been to Walmart, Target or other big stores when they open. At 10 pm, right when Walmart started their deals, we were there.

It was crazy, but not as crazy as I thought it would be. There were a ton of TVs and a ton of people though.

As we walked, a few deals caught our eye. Deals on items that we were going to buy anyways. Why not get them cheaply? At Walmart, we got a printer ($39), two 750 gb hard drives ($49/each), and a pineapple (haha – regular price and I needed one!).

After Walmart, we decided to keep going at Target. At Target, we got really nice 600 count bed sheets for $40, a book (Gone Girl) for half-off, and a movie for $8 (I think). It worked out SO well. We needed all of these items except for the book and a movie. BlackĀ Thursday Friday was a success!

On Friday, we drove to Todd’s mom and step-dad’s house for Thanksgiving Part 2.

It was so much fun and as always, Karen (Todd’s mom) cooked a wonderful meal! We also had lots of wine and dessert.

My contribution was the pumpkin pie and another Peas and Thank You recipe for vegan peanut butter dough balls (I love these and have made them multiple times!). Although, I must admit that mine weren’t 100% vegan since I used a little bit of skim milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips which are not vegan.

Saturday morning

We stayed over on Friday night and on Saturday we woke up early to watch the Ashland University football game. Tom, Todd’s step-dad went to Ashland and had tickets.

Despite the cold, it was a really fun morning! There were some snow flurries but we were prepared and cuddled up well for the weather. The cold definitely wiped me out and I slept well on Saturday night :-)

Ashland Football Game

Today we had lunch at Aladdin’s and watched the Steelers/Browns game. I was disappointed that my Steelers lost, but if they are going to lose I’m happy it was to the Browns. I have a soft spot for them since I live in Cleveland now. It was fun watching the game with Todd though. I wore my jersey and he wore his and we smack talked all afternoon. That’s love, folks.

Have a great beginning of the week! December is right around the corner!
