From Messy Bun to Beautiful Beachy Hair

Helloooooo pals!

On Tuesday of last week, a group of bloggers were invited to Dino Palmieri Salon which just opened at the Eton Plaza in Beachwood, Ohio. The event was focused on holiday hair styling using ONE Styling products. You may remember, but back in March, I attended another ONE Styling event and was already impressed with their products. I use their flat iron and hair dryer on a regular basis and would recommend them to anyone.

Really though, I need to be honest with you. Sometimes, I do not feel worthy attending these events! I am a MESS when it comes to doing my hair. So much of a mess that I regularly throw my hair up in a sock bun and call it a day. Even on the day of this event, with my hair thrown up in some type of knot, I frantically tweeted at ONE Styling asking if that was okay. Clearly, I wasn’t confident. Sometimes, I think I’m invited to these just because I need that much hair help. It’s like a hair intervention.

Anyways. As soon as I arrived, I checked in, and was immediately assigned the best hair stylist ever, Nicole.

Nicole promptly handed me their Dino’s Dry Bar menu, which I felt was pretty rad. This was great for people like me who can’t describe what they want. Usually, my hair appointments go something like this:

Stylist: What do you want done today?

Me: Um… ugh… hmmm…

Stylist: What do you want done today?

Me: Um. I need a trim and some waves… but not too much wave, but some. Actually, no wait, I like it curly. Not too short, but I still need a trim.

Stylist: ::blink::

Yea. That’s typical for me. That’s why it’s so lovely that Dino’s has a VISUAL representation of hair styles to pick from. I immediately felt a sense of relief.

After turning a few pages, I picked this little number for messy, beachy hair. Another reason I picked it was because I want the girls arms, but I quickly realized that wouldn’t be possible at a hair salon.

The Verge Bubble Wand was set and ready to go. I love this wand! It really is magical.

Nicole worked magic on my hair. After a few minutes, I realized she was a student in her second year. Her passion and love for hair really shined through and I enjoyed chatting with her. One of my favorite new products from my time was Nicole is the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. Nicole described it as a dry shampoo that will give my hair volume. I’ve been looking for a dry shampoo for quite sometime and I really think I found it. My hair can be tricky since it’s thin but I have a lot of it and it can get greasy easily, especially with some brands of dry shampoo. Throughout the evening, I also heard that other bloggers really liked this product as well.

The best part? At no cost to us, we were given goody bags full of products and the dry texturizing spray was included! Other product highlights from the goody bag were the ONE Styling Legacy Lite Dryer (one of the lightest professional hair dryers), Zoya Nail Polish (by FAR my favorite nail polish brand and has been for awhile), and Global Keratin Hair Taming System Serum (another stand-out favorite for me so far).

Look! Messy, beachy hair – just as the menu described (except for the nice arms the girl in the picture had. ahem). I loved it and can’t wait to recreate it at home. I really hope I’ll be able to figure it out. But, that’s the best part about ONE Styling tools. Their products are Julie-proof fool-proof.

After I got my hair did, I walked around and mingled with blogger friends and representatives at the salon.

Valerie Mayen from Project Runway was there too! Be sure to check out her website for really cute clothes.

Dino Palmieri Salon is a gorgeous place, plus everyone is super friendly which is a win-win!

Zoya Nail Polish was there giving manicures. I know I mentioned this above, but they are my favorite nail polish. I started following them on Facebook and Twitter a couple years ago I think. They are one of those brands that really gets social media. They interact so well with their fans and offer tons of promotions and giveaways through both of those platforms. Typically, they will offer Buy One Get One Free deals or other awesome sales. It was through one of those promotions that I first discovered them and got to try their nail polish. Now, they are pretty much all I use because application is so easy and the nail polish lasts.

What a FUN night that was! :-) I am so thankful for the chance to visit the salon and try out all of the fun products! I learned so much and I’m certain I will continue my hair education by using these valuable tools.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week!

What an amazing event!! I have the dry texturizing spray and it’s awesome but definitely isn’t a dry shampoo. It makes your hair look great though.

Zoya is my go to polish too. And after meeting Erin and the rest of the Zoya group in person, I love it even more!!

I loved your hair and I know you can recreate it at home – that Bubble Wand is the best!

I am so jealous! I would have loved to go to this! Your hair looked great, I have been trying to get the same look with a flat iron, but no matter how many youtube videos I watch, I am just no hair stylist! Looks like you had fun!

So fun!!! I never get invited to stuff like this :(

You’re hair looks amazing curled like that – did you buy that styling tool? I’ve been trying to do some curls with my flat iron but I’m just not that coordinated (and my hair really isn’t long enough).

Looks amazing! I have a feeling that if we got together with some wine and tried to recreate this, we couldn’t, but we’d have a really good time trying.
