Top Moments of Holiday Break, Part 1

Hi guys!

I hope you are doing well. I am still feeling a little bit under the weather but I hope to be 100% tomorrow! Optimism is always the best policy, in my opinion.

Before I get started with my holiday recap, if you are in the Cleveland area, you should come to the Battle of the Bombshells Happy Hour Kickoff for Blondes vs Brunettes on January 11 from 8-10 at Around the Corner in Lakewood, Ohio. Blondes vs Brunettes is a fun organization committed to fighting Alzheimer’s Disease. See my full recap of the June event here!

Today, I want to share with you the top moments of my holiday break. This break was one of my favorites and it was super relaxing. I had so much fun with my family, Todd, and his family. I wish I could hit the rewind button!

Eating at Joe’s

One of my co-workers, who is as obsessed about food as I am, raves about Joe’s Deli in Rocky River. She told me that everything there is amazing, but she highly recommended the Shish Tawook with strict instructions to dip my fries in the garlic mayo it comes with. Todd and I went for lunch one day. Along with my Shish Tawook and his Corned/Roast Beef Sandwich, we ordered the hummos. The hummos arrived in a very generous portion with veggies and pita bread. We made quite a dent in it, but still had tons to take home (a whole carton worth). The pita bread was warm and fresh too. Todd raved about his meal and mine was FANTASTIC. I cannot WAIT to go back… and my co-worker was right. Dipping the fries in the garlic mayo was a smart idea!

Harry and David Pears

Thanks to Groupon, I was able to finally try the infamous Harry and David Pears. HOLY JUICINESS. Did you know that pears are one of my favorite fruits? Well, besides watermelon, they are my favorite and I don’t think I’ve ever tried a better pear than Harry and David. I think I’m going to make this a holiday tradition and order them every year :-)

Zoya Nail Polish for the Holidays

I have been a fan of Zoya foreverrrr. Their polish is so easy to put on and very appealing to the eye. (Also, they came out with a Julie, finally!). I tried out the Zoya 18K gold flecks top coat over two of their holiday colors. It worked out so well! I did this before Christmas eve and it lasted well throughout the holidays. I can’t wait to do another holiday themed look next year!

Violet’s First Pearl Necklace

Since I work for a jewelry company and they have a section for little girls, I JUST HAD TO buy Violet her first pearl necklace (the Mini Soiree Necklace). I bought her other things too, but this was definitely a hit (for the adults, not really for her… she’s still very young!).

This is when she first realized she had a necklace on… haha. Also, she is holding her new doll that my mom got her!

I guess not everyone loves necklaces! Maybe in a few months she will ;-) Also, check out her new shopping cart.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Todd and I had a LOT of parties and fun to attend during break. Christmas Eve was held at his aunt’s house, where she had quite the spread of food and dessert. It was a blast hanging out with his family! :-)

On Christmas Day Todd had to work a 24-hour shift. I went out to Hudson and spent it with my mom, her husband Dave, his kids, Melanie, Nate, Liam, Violet, and Valerie, who was in from Chicago.

Also, a side note:

This was also the day that I got stuck in our apartment. LITERALLY. Stuck. For some reason, things like this seem to happen to me. Remember the time I dropped my keys down the elevator shaft? Basically, the door handle was broken and I couldn’t get out. Talk about scary! I’m just lucky that there wasn’t an emergency where I needed to get out. After waiting about an hour, maintenance arrived and got me out safely. I was late for Christmas, but whatever. It’s all good and my apartment responded super quick.

Once I arrived to Hudson, this is what greeted me. :-)

Hanging with Dad

A couple days after Christmas, we saw my dad for the holidays! More fun and gifts were exchanged and this time, Todd was there! He gave beer, wine, and chocolate to my family.

Nate really enjoyed his Samuel Adams:

Val enjoyed her Great Lakes!

Liam and Violet got my dad a tie:

It was another really fun night :-)

It was a great few days and I wish it never ended. I will have Part 2 up very soon! Todd went underway today for almost three weeks. I’m really going to miss him!

Have a wonderful Monday!

<3,

Julie

I have yet to try Joe’s! Asked around and was told the food was good but that it’s a restaurant for retired people… LOL… made me think of Bob Evans.

Love the silver 1960s type tree.

I once locked myself out of my apt. by getting stuck on the balcony. The screen door locked behind me. Maintenance took FOREVER. Had to borrow some random guy’s phone to call them and when I told him I was stuck on the balcony he made it seem like my issue wasn’t as big a deal as some woman who wanted her A/C fixed stat. Really? I waited like 2 hours out there and was not pleased.

Really? For retired people? LOL. I saw a wide range of ages – the place is huge! We should go sometime!

OMG about getting stuck on the balcony. I think that would be my worst nightmare!
