My Painting Class

Last year, I realized that there were painting classes being offered nearby and told Todd about them. My grandmother was a painter and had a gigantic craft room where she stored all of her eclectic supplies. Sometimes when I was over, she would let me explore and play with the random items I would find. Rarely, was anything off-limits and I felt free within the aura of that room.

Imagine by surprise when I opened up one of Todd’s Christmas presents to me this year: a painting class. The exact one I was talking about! I was really excited to have an escape once a week.

Every week, I get to learn about painting and express myself through color and really, do what I please. It’s so much fun mixing colors and creating something eccentric and fun. I adore the teacher and my classmates. Everyone has a fun sense of humor, especially at the beginning of class as the projects are beginning. But soon, a stillness sets in as everyone focuses on their canvas, creating whatever they feel like. Sometimes, you can hear a pin drop.

The teacher gives us some direction, but makes it known that it’sour project and not his. We can interpret his direction however we want. I just love the creative freedom.

I hope you are having a great week!

Have you ever taken a creative class, just for fun?

What a thoughtful gift!! Even though we have artists in my family, I am not very talented in that category…..I stop with stick figures :) My creative outlet is writing. I’ve take poetry workshops and attended poetry slams around town in CLE. Those are AWESOME! Always important to have a fun creative outlet…keep up the good work :)

Yes! I took a painting class last August and it was stupendous! I am not a visually creative person at all, but I found painting to be very calming. I’m glad you had fun!

I have always wanted to take a painting class. It’s so therapeutic but I am seriously the world’s worst painter.
