Hi all!
How was your weekend? It’s Sunday night as I type this and I’ve had the lazy day that I’ve been craving for awhile. Todd and I went through our DVR and were lazzzzzy all day, aside from laundry. It’s been perfect!
A couple years ago, I worked in Pennsylvania. It was my first job out of graduate school and I really loved it. Part of my assignment was working with deaf and hard of hearing students. One day, I was reading Caitlin‘s blog and she was asking for submissions to her new book, Operation Beautiful: One Note at a Time which was geared towards teens. I immediately thought of the high school class I worked with at the time and contacted the teacher, J.
J and I were very enthusiastic to get our students involved! Using the Operation Beautiful book (Caitlin’s first book) and we went through and talked about the meaning behind Operation Beautiful and what it means to them. It was wonderful learning about their perspective on these topics, especially how it relates to being a deaf and hard of hearing teen. After talking about the book, we got to work on a photo shoot! We took a ton of pictures with fun quotes in the background.
They were so creative with this project!
Then, a couple weeks ago, I received a message from my old co-worker, J…
…telling me that our students made it into the book! I am SO thrilled and incredibly proud of them! It was so long ago and honestly, seeing them in the book gives me goosebumps and takes me back to when I worked in PA. I miss it so much.
They are featured on page 181. 
Basically, that high school class is filled with a bunch of rock stars. What an unexpected and wonderful surprise!
