Hey all!
How’s it going? Right now I’m laying on the bed with Spencer at my side enjoying a yogurt treat. Soon I’ll put down my computer and {finally} finish The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards.

I’ve been reading it for quite awhile now. I can be a fast reader when I want to be but with this amazing book I chose to not speed through it. The writing is amazing and really draws me in. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good read this summer {plus I’m very picky so you should take that into consideration!}.
Today I had work and surprisingly we had a free lunch. I have no clue what the occasion was for, but I ate it all up anyways. Plus it was healthy.. chicken, corn, rice, etc. Nothing too crazy. It must have left me hungry though because when I came home I reached for the Dorito’s and some leftover cake from the 4th of July party. Ick. It’s my theory that since I ate like crap over the weekend, my body craves the bad food like woah. I hate that – does anyone else have that problem? On Twitter, msminneapolis @replied me and said it was the “after work binge phenomenon” which I totally relate to.

I’ll be back on track tomorrow. Tonight after my eating craze I went for a 20 minute run which felt GREAT. I actually think I’m running faster than I have in the past.
So life is good. I am still loving every minute of living with Dan. I’m so happy we took this chance to try out a temporary living situation. Many couples complain about things after living together and it’s been the complete opposite with us. We’ve had our issues in the past but they seem to have melted away. We understand each other fuller now; I get him and he gets me. With that said, I am honestly getting sad as the days pass by. In late August I will leave the DC area and make my way to Pittsburgh. The 4th of July has come and gone now and during many summers I feel that the summer goes downhill after that holiday. I mean what happened to June? I am trying to live in the moment and enjoy every time that we do have together living together. It will only make long distance better.
Anyways love nuggets, I’m off to read. Please don’t forget to enter my super sexy giveaway! Come on, it’s fun and frisky pasties! You know you want to try them.
xx,
Julie

It was the same for my husband and I! Moving in together was wonderful… it made things better somehow.
I understand the postwork binge… I’m always starving and can’t wait for dinner, literally, I need a snack or I get cross!!

I’m so happy that moving in with Dan has been so fabulous! I loved it when Matt finally moved in…even though, to be honest, we had already been unofficially living together for about a year – if not more. It was so much fun to actually move his clothes into my closet and all that stuff. I know that a lot of people are very anti-living together before marriage, and I respect their opinions, but to me…you never really know someone 100% until you live with them! It’s a great way to know that, when it’s time to get married, you won’t have any surprises.
Also – ahh! I’m so excited to read the Memory Keeper’s Daughter! I’m not sure when I’ll get to it, as I literally have around 30 books on my summer reading list I think, but…it is definitely on there!

I am totally with you on the living together situation. I never thought I would do it, but I did, and for me it has been a great decision. I feel like I am fully ready for marriage now and when that time comes, I will really be able to focus on the actual marriage itself and not about the moving in and what kind of issues might arise or worry about what it will be like. SO glad you and Dan are having a good experience.
p.s. Thanks for the shout out! I am glad I could provide a teeny bit of blog fodder

I may have to read that one… I feel like I’ve heard a lot about it but haven’t ever picked it up. Unfortunately I’ve only crossed one book off of my summer reading list for 2009, it’s time to get on it. I’m so happy that your living together is working out– try to enjoy what you have left of the summer and not focus on how soon it’ll be over… these things have a way of working themselves out. xoxo

I totally feel you on the craving junk food after you’ve had it. It’s like once you open the gates, bam! You just can’t stop. I’m pretty sure this has to be scientific fact.

I read that book last summer and thought it was okay, but there wasn’t just something that didn’t sit right with me. But I do agree the writing was amazing.

I started reading that book, but couldn’t get into it, but now I don’t remember why. Maybe I should try picking it up again.

First off, I L-O-V-E your new design. The colors are awesome and soothing and the background pattern gives it a fun, retro vibe. So fun!
How did you like The Memory Keeper’s Daughter? I loved the book and savored every word, too.
PS – so glad your summer is shaping up well and that living with Dan has brought you two closer! Just more proof that you two are something special
