Let’s Talk About a Vegan Handbag

I was just about to say, “Happy Saturday!” but then I realized it’s Friday. Woo-hoo! Happy Friday everyone.

Today Dan and I went to Tyson’s (yes, again). I went back to Cusp because I had purchased two tops from them this previous Sunday and I needed a price adjustment because their sale got better than it was on Sunday. When I was there before I noticed that the Matt and Nat Sade Foldover Clutch was on a major sale. Originally it was $185 and it was marked down to $77.00 (more than half-off!). On Twitter, I won a $50 gift card from the Purse Blog for retweeting their contest (THANK YOU PURSE BLOG!). I was so excited and knew I had to buy a handbag! I decided on the Matt and Nat Kogan Exposed Zip Clutch in pewter. Here is a picture:

I was trying to find a fashionable bag that I could wear with anything. I’ve been buying so many “cute” dresses and tops recently and I needed something with an edge. However, I am still going back and forth about my purchase for one reason:

It’s an over-sized clutch. Is it going to bother me without having straps? How realistic is this?

Other than that, I love it. I’m not a “girly-girl” by any means and while I do love bags that are “pretty” I love the look of this clutch In addition to the look of the bag, it’s vegan leather! This just adds to how stylish the bag is as a whole and I feel good about wearing it. Also, the bag was made by using recycled plastic water bottles and I think this specific bag used about 14 bottles. As a huge anti-throwaway-water-bottles advocate I feel good about that fact. That, and my friend Brandi would be proud.

What do you guys think about the clutch? Should I keep or return it? I would love to hear your opinions!

xoxo,

Julie

*UPDATE* I’m totally keeping it. I’m sitting here in capri jeans, a cute black top. Simple outfit and the bag boosts it to total awesomeness. I am happy :-)

I know what you mean about the bag not having straps. I don’t think it’s something I would carry everyday but for nice dinners and nights out… perfect!

Hrmmmm…. love the bag, don’t know if I could deal with the no-strap thing, but I suspect it’s a thing you get used to and it doesn’t bug you anymore. But I have one question… Vegan Leather???? I think I’m just pregnant-dense but how does that work? And where are the plastic bottles coming in?
