Recently, I’ve started to come to the realization that I have a problem: I am addicted to my ponytail.
evidence
Normally, I don’t see this as a bad thing. I mean, Charlotte York sported her pony many times on Sex and the City, right?

Either way, my ponytail gets exhausting because it’s the same hair style all the time. So, why do I do this to myself? Well, folks. I do not know how to do my hair. That and the fact that when it’s down, I always find something I don’t like about it! So this weekend, when I went home to visit my family, I tagged along with my sister, V, when she got her haircut. My family goes to this hair stylist goddess named Natasha. While she was getting her hair done, I was in awe. Natasha was showing V how to style her hair… what not to do, what to do, etc. No wonder my sister always wears her hair down! So right then and there, I scheduled an appointment with Natasha for later in the afternoon for what I’d like to call a
HAIR

Yes folks. A Hair Intervention (capitalized). You see, I do love my hair. It’s actually kinda thin and yet gives off the illusion of thickness and very easy to manage. The problem is that I don’t know how to mange it. Anyways, V and I go back to the salon and Goddess Natasha gets to work. She’s giving me tips like…
don’t over style your hair!
give yourself 5 minutes to style your hair and then walk away
let your hair do what it wants to do
don’t use your hot straighter on your wispy little pieces near your forehead because they will fry!
try an angled side part instead of a part that goes straight back
See what I mean? So there she is… chopping away. Chop… chop. I have this huge smile on my face. Then, we get to the front. The front is the area that I am always so frustrated with! The Goddess suggested bangs… well, side bangs. I said sure but was obviously nervous. “Baby steps” she says. I sigh in relief. She cuts just a little off and continues her magic. Once the hair is dried and styled, she suggests more bangs…
me: “Um… sure. I don’t know… um”
Goddess Natasha: “Well. Let’s just…” (snip snip)
I have bangs. Well, side wispy bangs that come up right below my eyes and I’m IN LOVE. I am so happy I took the chance!

Sorry about the iPhone quality there. Also, you can’t tell that the bangs are short because they are mixed in with the long ones. Trust me they are there! I am so liberated and I love the side angled part as well. I even wore my hair down today which is completely unheard of.
Even with my recent Hair Intervention, I still love my ponytail and I always will. There is something so easy and elegant about that style. And, hey, I’m sure it will look good with my new wispy bangs as well!
**********
The rest of my weekend went very well. I got to hang out with my nephew (Liam) a ton! Here’s another iPhone quality picture that I snapped at him on Friday night. When you tell him to do his “funny face”, this is what he does:
That face cracks me up every time!
He’s not always so funny. Last night, V, my mom, and I babysat him while my older sister was at a wedding. He woke up around midnight and we all played “confused and tired Mom” for about an hour while he cried his eyes out. The poor lil guy. I think he was just scared to be away from his regular bed (even though he is used to my mom’s house). So, while Liam wailed, we all watched “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC. The show is awesome and I loved that there was a marathon on last night. It was great bonding for us.
Anyways, I hope you all have a great start to the week!
hugs,
Julie

Thanks dear! Yes, I’m still getting used to it. Always a struggle styling my hair!

Definitely love the hair! And what a nice change, to find a hair person who explains how to style??! I totally suck at hair too, which is why I was so excited to chop mine off after the wedding. Of course, now I can’t fit it in a ponytail, so I’m growing it back out. What can I say, it’s a vicious cycle.

It IS a vicious cycle! We get bored with styles so easily that it always comes back to the style it was before!

I love your new side bangs!!! I’ve been thinking about getting mine done before family photos. What do you think? Should I do it before or wait just in case I hate them? I also want to get my ends died darker to match my roots but I can’t get my stylist to call me back. UGH!!!
BUT…can I just say that you look beautiful even with a pony tail.
And…I love your polish color. What is it?
XOXO

GO FOR IT! I love them (Oh and I’m replying a few days after I got this done… still love them!). Seriously if your stylist is being flakey, that’s so rude! My nail polish is Zoya (Envy). I think it’s the one you approved of
I love it, however, it’s VERY dark and you can’t really tell it’s dark green unless you look closely.

I think your hair looks awesome! I have yet to find a good stylist. I hate, hate HATE my hair!
…and I must ask you…that dress you’re wearing in the first picture, I think i have the same one? Did you get it from Target? I LOVE mine and wear it sooo much in the summer. If it is, in fact, NOT from Target, I hope I did not offend you! Mine is such a staple that I had to ask!

Hey Heidi! Maybe you could try yelp.com to find a good stylist?
Anywho, YES my dress is from Target and no of COURSE I’m not offended! I am proud that it’s from Target. I also bought one in a raspberry color
Best dress ever! (Ok, now I’m missing summer!)
